INTERVIEW: Tayo Shonekan speaks to OnoBello.com

The OnoBello.com team recently caught up with Aimas' very own Tayo Shonekan in an interview where she talks extensively about the brand Aimas and dishes out styling tips. Here's a sneak peek...

"OB: You actually started as a fashion designer but most people just know you as a stylist, why is that?

TS: That is true, I guess for several reasons. Firstly my label is not self-named so though people know of the label, they do not realize that I am the person behind it. Secondly I am not a clothing designer, so I do not generally participate in a lot of fashion shows that help get your name out there. Thirdly, I have done quite a lot of styling work especially for editorials, which by default makes you known for your work.

OB: What is the aesthetics of your Aimas label?

TS: Aimas is really about individuality. It is also about the African continent so I like to call it Afro chic or afropolitan.

OB: Where do you go to and what do you look at for inspiration?
TS: Life generally inspires me and I can find inspiration everywhere and in everything."

Welcome to the Aimas Room

Last year we launched our very own store "Aimas Room". The offical outlet for the sale of our designs which includes a wide range of hand made jewelry, hair pieces, purses, belts and tee's.
Our designs are a product of the fusion of traditional African prints and modern Western fabric. What better way to stay in touch with your roots in a society highly influenced by the domineering Western culture. Our recent collection, Mama's Garden is inspired by flowery blooms, brilliant bust of colors, freshness and the playful free spirit chic that only an experience of a beautiful garden can bring. Take a look!

Bet you can't wait to get those perfectly manicured fingers on these, there is more where they came from. Aimas Room is located at 32 Alexander Road, Ikoyi, Lagos Nigeria.
